Over at Americans for ‘Truth,’ Porno Pete has given links to his favorite gay and gay friendly bloggers on their resources page. Oddly with the many many out there he only picked five.
So this writer who eventually wants to aspire to join the list (ooh oooh, pick me next! Pick me!!!) wishes deepest heartfelt congratulations to my fellow bloggers and my heros.
Since we all know that when the “pro-family” types add pro as a suffix to any word it instantly means the opposite we can only inferr from our observations that “pro-truth” which is listed as a category, means that the information provided is devoid of any real facts, scientific evidence, or research. Maybe now that people will visit the site and visit my friends over at Pam’s House Blend, Good As You, Andrew Sullivan, News Fit to Print, and Ex-Gay Watch (surprise envelopes me as I wonder why Wane Besen wasn’t mentioned) people will finally see the real objective truth to the brainwashing they’ve been getting with the lyes spread from the Church.

The innocence of a child’s interest in the “Wizard of Oz” and his penchant for rainbows has drawn the scorn of a community. Worse yet it’s brought the scorn of the Westboro Baptist Church on the community that has scorned the parents of the child who likes Rainbows (not pictured left).

The Lakeway Hotel is situated in a quiet small town called Meade. Meade has many Americana style tourist attractions and doesn’t do well with conflict or change.
The Knights who own the Hotel received a flag from their son after seeing the “Wizard of Oz” because it reminded him of the song “Over the Rainbow.” The Knights, in turn, flew the flag to honor their son. While not ignorant about the controversy surrounding the flag, the couple didn’t think of the impending controversy to come.
Accordingly, when son Anthony sent them the rainbow flag last month, its significance in the gay rights movement, though not lost on them, didn’t really register. The flag’s bright hues drew the attention of the boy, now with grandparents in California.
“We just put it up. We didn’t think about it,” Robin said. “It has pretty colors, it’s bright, it’s summery.”
More to the point, J.R. Knight says, it was a way, at least symbolically, to have their son nearby.
Mostly they just got a lot of angry letters in protest from the small Christian town. Until they woke up one morning to find their flag was missing.
The Knights, nonetheless, remain defiant. Someone this week cut away the flag from the pole at the Lakeway in the wee hours of the morning, leaving behind tattered corners, but a new one soon will be taking its place.
The Knights hold their ground saying “Two [flags] were in the mail yesterday,” and “More are on the way.”
Another article by the same news source gives an update that two boys were turned in by their father for cutting the flag down. The article also revealed that there was further property damage done such as windows and neon signs being broken by a brick that had the word “Fag” scrawled across it.
We also find out that there will be picketing by the Westboro Baptist Church in the area with media coverage by the BBC? To which I say “What great comedy! Finally, something to spice up the droll BBC.”
Shirley Phelps Roper of Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, meanwhile, says that virulently anti-gay group tentatively is planning to picket Aug. 27 outside the Lakeway.
Westboro will be hosting a crew from the British Broadcasting Corp., Phelps Roper said, and a picket in Meade “might be just the interesting thing (that the news crew can) get their arms around.” Westboro members think the deaths of U.S. servicemen in Iraq are punishment from God for tolerance in the United States of homosexuality, and they are notorious for picketing soldiers’ funerals.
The media is clearly biased, but in our case and theirs, good for them!
Here’s the *ahem* press release from the Wacky Baptist Church:

Lakeway Hotel now proudly sports a button and a link on their site for the Tennessee Equality Coalition, Southwestern branch. Great work!

Another sad story that didn’t grab MSM attention. And another reason why the civil rights struggle of black Americans is a relevant argument.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A cross burning at the home of a gay man in Meigs County has caught the attention of the Ninth Judicial District Attorney, who has requested the assistance of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
The cross burning case incident occurred on Thursday, June 29, when Brandon Waters, 23, of Ten Mile, Tenn., discovered the cross burning in his driveway.
The 6 to 8 foot-tall cross was discovered soon after the family had returned from dinner at the home Waters shares with his 62-year-old mother. They noticed the blaze as they looked out their front window. Perpetrators apparently left an offensive message containing homophobic slurs.
The cross burning is only the latest in a series of hate-based harassment inflicted on Waters and his partner, Brian Harmon, and his friend, Claudia. All three have encountered hate speech based on sexual orientation in the Meigs County area.
“We just want to live our lives,” says Waters. “I don’t understand why people can’t just leave us alone.”
The problem that this family has faced though is that only the local Tennessee Beaurau of Investigation can check into this using an older progressive law that may or may not give them the leverage they need. The FBI says that their hands are tied are tied on this because there is no federal regulation classifying crimes based on the sexual orientation either real or perceived as hate crimes. This is explained later in the same article.
Speaking from Lambda Legal’s Atlanta office, Jack Senterfitt, senior legal counsel, said, “The Tennessee statute does provide us with an enhancement factor if the defendant intentionally selected the victim because of sexual orientation. That would enable the judge to enhance or lengthen a sentence that would otherwise be imposed for any conviction.”
In other words, any conviction for a crime related to this incident such as possible arson, malicious burning, terrorist threats, or criminal trespassing could result in extended jail time and other penalties because Waters was targeted based solely his on sexual orientation. According to Senterfitt, judges in such cases are obligated to consider the crime victim’s sexual orientation status if appropriate, but they are not bound by any requirement to attach additional penalties.
It would be nice if Main Stream Media covered these sort of atrocities, but they do not unless someone is murdered. This is inexcuseable and is only fomented by “pro-family” groups like the AFA, Focus on the Family, and the Moral Majority. This is fomented by Biblically based hatred of individuals. It needs to be stopped and laws need to be changed.
Call or write your congressman an senators and tell them that this kind of thing needs to be stopped with federal protection by adding sexual orientation as a protected class to the current ‘Hate Crimes’ bill. Cite the story above and any other references you can think of. We don’t want to have hate speech as a crime as it will only lead to religious persecution but we need protection from this kind of physical attack.

Christopher Lyon, a movie critic for “Focus on the Family”, anylizes Ant Bully. The website that “Focus on the Family” runs is called Plugged in Online. They give the movie a glowing review with a few minor dings.
What caught my eye of this review is what Mr. Lyon wrote in for a positive message:
The Ant Bully’s loudest outright messages are overwhelmingly positive. To hurt those smaller than yourself just because you can is clearly revealed to be wrong, even if you yourself are the object of bullying.
What would happen if we changed a few things?
The Fag Bully:
In my version of the story the boy would still be the same, and so would the bigger bully who picks on him. The ones that the small bully picks on are the gay youth in the gay/straight studatn alliance that has been taking place after school for about six months. The biggest bully would pick on the smaller boy because he was smaller and seemed insignifigant. The bigger bully would also taunt the smaller one because he was percieved to be gay.
To preserve his own masculinity and to make up for being picked on himself he would in-turn taunt the students in the gay-straight alliance. In the dead of the night the GSA comes up with a plan to make their bully pay for what he’s done by picking on the boy till he cried and felt bad enough that he might take his own life. He awakes to find himself tied to a chair in the GSA meeting room of the school where a group of the kids are rooting for the same treatment being inflicted on him that they received on a daily basis. Instead, the leader of the GSA stops the others from taunting him and make a plea with the boy to Join the GSA. To prevent himself from being bullied by more people than his own bully he agrees. They educate him as to what the GSA is all about and how it tries to stop bullying. And he learns the next day what it’s like to be bullied by others because of a real or perceived difference. He has things thrown at him and is called names that, prior to becoming a member of the GSA, were things only he and other bullies called the students in the GSA. He eventually saves the life of one of the members when his Bully is about to bash one of the other members and learns that bullying is wrong, no matter whether or not you’re the one being bullied.
I’m sure that the “pro-family” groups will take what I’ve said to mean that I’m saying the ants are gay, but I’m not. I’m just taking the same positive moral message and replacing characters and their sexual orientation.
These “pro-family” types will not see the correlation and still demand that schools not recognize Gay/Straight Alliances and demand that anti-bullying laws be struck from the records. Why? Because bullying is wrong, unless directed at gays in the eyes of the pro-family groups. When will they learn, probably after they die and go to Hell and wonder what the heck they’re being punished for.
