Joe-the-Adviser

Posted in As*hattery, Fraud, Fundies, Interesting, Strange at 12:17 pm by Daimeon

Between Sarah Palin and Sam Wurzelbacher A.K.A. Joe-the-Plumber, A.K.A. Joe-the-War Correspondent and now A.K.A. Joe-the-GOP Adviser, these people won’t give up the spotlight.  It’s been well over 4 months since these jokers’ 15 minutes of fame were up but they just won’t go away, and I admit that’s partially the fault of the blogosphere and the Corporate Media who can’t seem to stop reporting on these two attention whores.

When GOP congressional aides gather Tuesday morning for a meeting of the Conservative Working Group, Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher – more commonly known as Joe the Plumber — will be their featured guest. This group is an organization of conservative Capitol Hill staffers who meet regularly to chart GOP strategy for the week.

Wurzelbacher, who became a household name during the presidential election, will be focusing his talk on the proposed stimulus package. He’s apparently not a fan of the economic rescue package, according to members of the group.

If nothing else, GOP aides are using the appearance to get staffers to attend the 9 a.m meeting.

In case you weren’t planning to attend CWG tomorrow morning, you might want to reconsider because Joe the Plumber will be joining us!” Kimberly Wallner, an aide to South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint, wrote in a message to her e-mail list this afternoon.

I wonder if the Republicans are ever going to make a stink about his failure to pay back taxes or even apologize for not doing so?  I mean, fair is fair right?

No “Victory” after all

Posted in As*hattery, Barack Obama, Fraud, Gay Marriage, Homophobic Rants, Lies, Religious Right at 3:24 pm by Daimeon

Yesterday it was reported that Saddleback had taken down it’s unwelcome message to “unrepentant homosexuals” to its church, which some hailed as being a victory.

Today, Saddleback Church clarified for Queerty what was really happening.

“I wanted to make sure you were aware that the Q & A addressing homosexuality on the Saddleback Church Web site has not been permanently removed, but rather repurposed for clarity. I know your readers have noticed the change.

Attached is the audio response from Saddleback Associate Pastor Tom Holladay regarding the question, “What Does the Bible Say About homosexuality – is it a sin?” that will be posted later this morning on the site.

Wanted to make sure you were aware of this. Thanks!” – Kristin Cole, Saddleback PR

John Arivosis gets it, why not the corporate media?

Posted in Barack Obama, Fraud, Fundies, Interesting at 1:45 pm by Daimeon

I’ve been scratching my head for several days now, trying to figure out why practically every news story about Rick Warren explains that he’s not anti-gay, and in fact quite progressive and moderate, because he’s worked on AIDS in Africa. Well, bully for him. But there are two problems there:

1. I’m not African; and

2. AIDS in Africa is a predominantly heterosexual disease.

Why is Rick Warren’s work on AIDS in Africa, a mostly heterosexual disease over there, indicative of his love for American gays?.

Bush to the families of dead soldiers: ‘So what?’

Posted in As*hattery, Fraud, Lies at 10:16 am by Daimeon

ABC NewsMartha Raddatz interviewed Mr. Bush just before he left Iraq on Sunday.  Mostly the corporate media run news has been playing the clip of him saying, “And it was amusing. I mean, I’ve seen a lot of weird things during my presidency and this may rank up there as one of the weirdest.”  However very few are reporting the more important, more infuriating statement made after Martha called Mr. Bush on linking al Qaeda to Iraq.

Raddatz: Let’s talk about this trip. Your last trip to the region as president. Your last trip to Iraq. Surely your legacy will be largely about this war. Talk to me about how that feels being here? The last trip and what you really think that legacy will be.

Bush: Well, first of all I think a president’s legacy is going to take time. We’ve accomplished a lot in my administration. Like No Child Left Behind; 52 months of uninterrupted job growth; PEPFAR, which is the AIDS initiative in Africa; fighting malaria, where there’s poverty; faith based; I mean there a lot that people will be able to judge this administration on.

Clearly, one of the most important parts of my job because of 9/11 was to defend the security of the American people. There have been no attacks since I have been president, since 9/11. One of the major theaters against al Qaeda turns out to have been Iraq. This is where al Qaeda said they were going to take their stand. This is where al Qaeda was hoping to take …

Raddatz: But not until after the U.S. invaded.

Bush: Yeah, that’s right. So what? The point is that al Qaeda said they’re going to take a stand. Well, first of all in the post-9/11 environment Saddam Hussein posed a threat. And then upon removal, al Qaeda decides to take a stand. And they’re becoming defeated and I think history will say, one, the world was better off without Saddam, two, along with the Iraqi troops we have denied al Qaeda a safe haven because a young democracy is beginning to grow, which will be an important sign for people in the Middle East.

Essentially Bush is saying to the families of 4209 dead soldiers (as of the date of this post) ‘So what if I sent them to their deaths on a pack of lies?’ Bush is saying to the 30,852 (official as of the date of this post) wounded Iraq war veterans, ‘So what if you’re wounded, missing limbs, forever disfigured, hearing impaired, blinded, paralyzed, or mentally impaired?  I don’t care.’

To the Iraqi people who are angry at him for invading, and occupying their country, “Yeah, that’s right.  So what?”  To the almost 100, 000 or more Iraqi civilians, consisting of children, fathers, mothers, aunts, uncles, and grandparents, “So what?”

This is the value of human life to George W. Bush.  As he said at the end of the presser where the shoes were thrown at him “It’s like people on the highway not gesturing with all five fingers.”  That is his parting gesture to the world.

Ok, so we here at Get-The-Skinny get some strange email on occaison, but I have to laugh hysterically.  This is what just landed in my inbox.

I’m sure I could find about $42 Million in between the couch cushions.  After all I could make quite the profit.  In this economy we need to do all we can.  Maybe, I could buy the Illinois Senate seat vacated by President-elect Obama?  After all it is the Holidays Christmas!

AFT(AH) a Gay-Rights Org?

Posted in AFT(AH?), As*hattery, Fraud, Fundies, Interesting, Religious Right at 11:20 am by Daimeon

After yesterday’s post about the obvious MO of their organization we learn from Dr. Kevin Kaatz of Kevin’s Space that AFT is listed as a gay-rights organization to maintain tax-exempt status.

Excuse me, but gay-rights?  Aww Petey you’re soo nice.  Oh? Wait a minute! You’re against equal rights.  Stop pretending and just be honest with who you really are.  We are honest about you!

I see on a couple of websites that Americans for Truth is attacking a 16 year old for writing about the truth that sits behind the Americans for Truth. Well, I’ve just done a bit of background checking about this group and found out some interesting things.

I didn’t realize that the actual name for Americans for Truth is Americans for Truth about Homosexuality. I suppose that is what AFTAH stands for, but why don’t they put their full title in their website? I think when this group is mentioned the full legal title should be used. What also really made me angry is that when I looked this organization up in GuideStar (a source of information about non-profit organizations), their ‘National Taxonomy of Exempt Entities,’ code is R26–Lesbian/Gay Rights.  These NTEE codes are used to help people search for non-profit organizations.  And get this–this code of R26 is used for “R20 Civil Rights, Advocacy for Specific Groups”! So Americans for Truth about Homosexuality claim to be a civil rights group for lesbians and gays!
The section for R26 is reserved for: “Organizations that support the passage and enforcement of laws and other social measures that protect and promote the rights and interests of individuals who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered.

***Update–I’ve received emails from both Guidestar and Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy.  A Guidestar service representative said “The codes are selected by either the organizations themselves or by the IRS.”  The CNP thanked me for bringing it to their attention, but no response as to what they can/might do about changing that code.  I’ll try digging around in the IRS website to see who I might email about this.  As far as I can tell, the IRS attaches these codes.  But as it stands, the Americans For Truth About Homosexuality is listed, as a non-profit organization, along side the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, as a group that defends gay and lesbian rights.

We’ll wait for the IRS to say “No! Bad Porno Pete!  Bad! Go get in your ‘crate’”
